Mondays - January 9 - April 3 (12 weeks) at Vancouver Island School of Art

Experience: Beginner / Intermediate

Cost: $475 + Supplies

This twelve-week course is designed to deepen students’ understanding of how to capture the myriad of elements that make up the natural world. Subjects will range from individual objects such as leaves and trees, to intimate and expansive landscapes. This course covers basic colour theory and composition, as well as a variety of techniques and approaches to paint nature. Projects will include painting from photo references, real life and the imagination. The projects will be supplemented with examples of contemporary artists working with themes related to nature. Some painting experience is recommended. In-person delivery.

An introductory course offering a dive into the magical world of landscape painting. We will cover perspective, colour schemes, and composition, as well as classical and contemporary landscape painting. Students will develop their own landscape painting and work through a variety of exercises related to landscape painting.

Wednesday’s April 6th – May 11th

• Experience: Intermediate/Advanced

• Ages: 16+

• Cost: $320 / 6 classes

Dive deeper into the world of acrylic painting. This course builds upon the information learned in Kate’s Intro to Acrylics series. We will learn further about the fascinating world of colour theory, how to build stronger compositions and create our own paintings. One on one instruction will be more prevalent in this course, and students will be leaving with a beautifully developed, small body of work.
